SpiderBits
Team 17219
SpiderBits is a team that branched off of Team SpiderByte. We are mostly made of beginner coders. Just like SpiderByte, we are an all girls team and we let the same age range in. Although we don't have as much experience as SpiderByte, we are sure we can do great things. We branched off of SpiderBytes because there were so many people who wanted to join.
Our team has a vast variety of age groups! The girls on our team range from 11-16 years old! We have opportunities for girls who are not old enough to be officially registered into FTC to participate in our team to learn more about robotics at an early age. This way, when they are old enough to join the team they know how our team works. Anyone who wants to join our team and is ready to learn can join! We spend our summers teaching new members about how FTC works.
Our team was created 3 years ago because there was so much interest in our sister team, Spiderbyte, that the mentors decided it would be best if we created another team. The Skystone competition was our first FTC competition. We spent a lot of time planning and building our robot, and we attended two qualifiers. At the first qualifiers we won 1st place for the motivate award and 3rd place for the think award. At the second qualifiers, we advanced to the semi-finals.
